Geological context

Tanzania's tin deposits sit within the Karagwe-Ankole Belt, one of Africa's most established cassiterite-bearing regions. Ore is predominantly extracted by artisanal and small-scale miners across Shinyanga, Geita, and Kagera before aggregation and processing.

Sourcing regions

Shinyanga, Tanzania Geita, Tanzania Kagera, Tanzania

Primary industrial applications

Electronics Solder

Tin-silver-copper, lead-free solder bars for electronic component manufacturing.

Tinplate

Corrosion-resistant coating for steel packaging and food-grade containers.

Energy Storage

Component material in next-generation battery and energy storage technologies.

Chemical Alloys

Base material for a range of industrial tin-based chemical compounds.

Packaging & export logistics

1-Ton Big Bags

Standard format for concentrate shipments, moisture-sealed and palletized.

Container Loads

Full container loads (FCL) for larger offtake volumes.

Smelted Ingots

+90–99% purity ingots, cast and bundled for direct industrial buyers.

Every shipment is traceable to its point of origin. See Compliance & Traceability for the full chain-of-custody process.

Value Addition

How tin ore becomes ingot

Processed on-site through the Westfield facility, adding value to Great Lakes Region ore before export.

Tin processing step 01: Processing

Step 01

Processing

Tin ore is crushed and washed to remove dust and sand, then separated from other minerals such as iron ore.

Tin processing step 02: Black Tin

Step 02

Black Tin

Tin ore concentrate is smelted (heated up to 1300°C) to separate the metal from the remaining rock material, creating black tin - basically unpurified tin metal with 90–95% tin content.

Tin processing step 03: Ingots

Step 03

Ingots

Black tin is purified to produce tin metal ingots with +99% tin content.

Tin processing step 3.5: Tin Solder

Step 3.5

Tin Solder

Using a tin alloy of tin-silver-copper, lead-free solder bars are manufactured for use in electronic products.
